Ayyaantuu.net was hit by a large traffic yesterday and today. The hosting server was not prepared to handle 5,000 – 10,000 hits per hour (over 100 connections at a time). We had a volume of 25,000 hits in the first 4 hours this morning. The server’s CPU was choked reaching 100% for hours. We suspected first that it was attacked and rebooted the server so many times, but found later that it had genuine traffic.
The work around was to add one more IP Address to handle more traffic and enable CDN over 23 data centers. This means most of the traffic will hit a close by ayyaantuu content server. The heaviest traffic used to come from Ethiopia until it was blocked last month.
Finally, we apologize for the inconvenience yesterday and today. We hope the new approach will handle more traffic and Ayyaantuu will continue campaigning for the Oromo and other oppressed peoples’ struggle in Ethiopia.
Thank You
